BRI Danareksa Sekuritas' Brokerage Business Performance Soars in 2022
Jakarta, February 8th, 2023 - PT BRI Danareksa Sekuritas, a subsidiary of PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI) and a member of the BUMN Danareksa Holding, recorded aggressive growth in the brokerage business line in 2022, exceeding the growth in brokerage transactions on the capital market in the same year.
Throughout 2022, BRI Danareksa Sekuritas' equity brokerage performance shot 55%, higher than the industry's increase in equity brokerage in the Indonesian capital market which was only 10%.
President Director of BRI Danareksa Sekuritas Laksono Widodo said the increase was supported by a significant increase of 133% for its institutional equity brokerage business performance, compared to an increase in the market of 38%. The company was also able to maintain growth in the retail equity brokerage business even though the market was experiencing a decline.
"We hope that this satisfactory increase in performance can strengthen BRI Danareksa Sekuritas' position as one of the best brokerage business providers in the Indonesian capital market," said Laksono Widodo in a press release statement in Jakarta (8/1/2023).
Laksono said, apart from the positive performance of equity brokerage, from the bond brokerage business side, the Company also recorded a significant increase in performance of 46% compared to the market which actually fell by 7%. This was supported by the transaction value of government bonds (state securities) handled by companies, which increased by 29%, and corporate bonds' transaction value, which increased significantly by 143%.
Based on Bloomberg data, among stock exchange member securities companies (AB) on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), BRI Danareksa's bond brokerage market share in 2022 rose 2.03% and maintained the 1st rating for government bonds. BRI Danareksa Sekuritas' market share for corporate bonds also rose 7.30% which made BRI Danareksa's rating rise to rank 2 from the previous rank 5 in 2021.
Target 2023
Laksono said, in 2023, BRI Danareksa Sekuritas targets to increase the number of customers by 42% and the number of transactions by 48% for the retail brokerage business. Meanwhile, for the institutional brokerage business, the company targets an 18% increase in transactions.
According to him, one of the programs that have had a good impact on company performance, especially on increasing retail brokerage transactions is the Gold Precious Metals Lottery program which will be held in November and December 2022, with a total of 15,000 participants. This program has resulted in an increase in the number of transactions by 91% and the number of customers by 102% at the end of the program period, compared to October 2022.
On the other hand, thanks to the Company's good brokerage performance, BRI Danareksa Sekuritas also received prestigious appreciation as the Highly Ranked Best Domestic Brokerage in Indonesia in the "33rd Annual AsiaMoney Brokers Poll 2022" award. This is a voting event organized by one of the major media in Asia, AsiaMoney, which aims to identify the best brokerage service providers in Asia, involving 3,000 institutions in Asia, Europe and North America.
